Putin accuses West of building "new axis"

Western countries are trying to create new global alliances, including a coalition similar to the axis of Nazi Germany, fascist Italy and militaristic Japan of the 1930s, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

“What is the United States doing? They create more and more alliances, and this gives Western analysts, Western political scientists reason to say that the West is building new axes,” he said in an interview with Pavel Zarubin, aired on the Rossiya 24 TV channel (VGTRK), Interfax reports.

In particular, Putin recalled that in 2022, NATO agreed on a new strategic concept for the development of the bloc.

“It is directly written there that NATO is going to develop relations with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. And these countries are listed: there are New Zealand, and Australia, and South Korea. And they say they will create a global NATO. Well, what is it? he said in connection with this.

"The UK and Japan at the beginning of this year, in January, in my opinion, signed an agreement on mutual openness, that is, on establishing contacts and developing relations in the military sphere," Putin continued.

“That is why Western analysts, Western analysts themselves, it’s not us, say that the West is starting to build a new axis, like the one that was created back in the 30s by the fascist regimes in Germany and Italy and militaristic Japan,” the Russian President said.
