Putin calls Macron's statements about Karabakh, Russia inappropriate
Russian President Vladimir Putin called the statements of French colleague Emmanuel Macron about the role of Russia in the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and Armenian-Azerbaijani relations inappropriate and unacceptable.
Speaking at an enlarged meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State in Astana, Putin said that he was surprised to read some of the thoughts of the French President, voiced after the meeting in Prague, Caliber.Az reports with reference to the Russian media.
The President of the Russian Federation believes that these [Macron's] words does not reflect understanding of the course of the conflict itself and there is no information about the position of the parties.
The Russian leader suggested that the French president was not informed about the position of the parties to the Karabakh conflict.
"...Therefore, they sounded inappropriate or perverted and therefore unacceptable," the President of the Russian Federation noted.
He suggested that there would be an opportunity to discuss the issue with the French president himself.
Russia has always sincerely sought to resolve any conflicts, including those related to Karabakh and around it.
Recall that French President Emmanuel Macron gave an interview to the L'Événement program on the France 2 TV channel, in which he touched on the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict. The French leader, in particular, stated that "Russia took advantage of this conflict, intervened and obviously played the game of Azerbaijan with the complicity of Türkiye, and then returned there to weaken Armenia."
