Rail traffic disrupted in Dnipropetrovsk region after Russian shelling PHOTO
Railway operations in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region have been disrupted following rocket shelling by Russian forces, which de-energized the railway’s contact network and caused significant delays to passenger services.
Ukrzaliznytsia reported that repair crews promptly mobilized reserve diesel locomotives, while the restoration of electric train movement is proceeding gradually. Despite these efforts, delays continue to affect multiple routes, Caliber.Az reports.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, the following delays have been recorded: Train No. 119 Dnipro–Kholm is running approximately three hours late; No. 120 Kholm–Dnipro by about three hours and 40 minutes; No. 75/76 Kyiv–Kryvyi Rih by roughly four hours and 25 minutes; No. 37/38 Kyiv–Zaporizhzhia by around four hours and 10 minutes; and No. 79/80 Dnipro–Lviv by approximately six hours and 30 minutes. Ukrzaliznytsia noted that all timetable deviations are being tracked on the uz-vezemo portal.
Suburban services have also been affected, with delays of three to four hours reported on routes toward Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih. In particular, Train No. 6008 Piatykhatky–Dnipro is delayed by three hours, while Train No. 6501 Piatykhatky–Kryvyi Rih is running four hours behind schedule.
According to Ukraine’s Air Forces, Russia launched 153 Shahed-type attack drones and unmanned aerial vehicles of other types, including Heron drones, overnight on December 15. Ukrainian air defence forces shot down 133 UAVs, while 17 drones were recorded striking ten locations.
Vladyslav Haivanenko, acting head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, said that the drone attacks resulted in injuries and damage to infrastructure across the region.
Following the combined rocket and drone strikes, specialists continue efforts to restore power supply and railway traffic. However, officials warned that the situation remains tense and continues to affect train schedules.
Ukrzaliznytsia has advised passengers to regularly check the latest timetables on the uz-vezemo platform and to factor in possible delays while restoration work is ongoing.
