Real Madrid wins UEFA Super Cup
David Alaba and Karim Benzema scored the goals as Real Madrid won the UEFA Super Cup for a record-equalling fifth time.
Real Madrid put on a clinical display to win the UEFA Super Cup for a record-equalling fifth time as Carlo Ancelotti broke new ground with his fourth title as a coach and Karim Benzema became the Spanish side's all-time second-highest goalscorer.
"The opening goal was a loose ball at the far post. Our plan was to try and get crosses into that area because our analysis told us they were generally weaker on the back post. But in the end, it was a bit of a coincidence, except that Casemiro was where he was because we'd asked him to prowl there," the Spanis club's manager Carlo Ancelotti said, according to UEFA official website.
"I didn't need this win to be able to tell you all that my team are still hungry and motivated. It was a more complicated match than it might have looked."
Meanwhile, Real Madrid midfielder Carlos Casemiro was awarded the "Man of the Match" prize.
