Relatives of dead Armenian soldiers protesting in Yerevan
Parents of Armenian soldiers, who were liquidated during the 44-day war, are holding a protest outside the Armenian government building.
They are demanding the remains of their sons be transported and compensation for the houses they left behind in Karabakh, according to the head of the Union of Parents of Dead and Missing Soldiers Armen Asryan, Caliber.Az reports citing Armenian media.
According to him, many parents of fallen soldiers who lost their homes after the 2020 war received certificates to purchase houses in the Republic of Armenia or Karabakh. However, many of them were unable to purchase housing in Armenia due to the sharp rise in real estate prices.
“The compensation programs expire in March, but we are not being offered anything new, so we want to discuss our problems with a representative of the authorities. We need answers to our questions,” the sister of one of the Armenian soldiers told reporters.
She also said that relatives of military personnel have lost a number of allowances and are unable to pay rent, utilities and resolve everyday issues.
Now a group of parents is holding a meeting with a representative of the Armenian government. After this, they will inform you about their further actions.
