Russia about to launch messenger app “Molniya”
Russia is preparing to launch its new "Molniya" messenger app, aimed at fostering international interaction—particularly with China—at the beginning of 2026, TASS reports, citing the platform’s press service.
“The platform is scheduled to launch in early 2026,” the company said.
Molniya is envisioned as a comprehensive platform combining communications, social content, payments, cross-border trade, and business services.
The messenger’s press office says the app is being developed as a functional solution tailored to the rapidly growing Russia–China travel market, entrepreneurs, content creators, and companies engaged in cross-border operations. The application is a joint development by Red Soft and Passion.
“Russia and China are entering a new era of technological cooperation. We need a digital infrastructure that unites people, services, and businesses on a single platform. We are creating a convenient, secure, and modern tool that meets the needs of students, entrepreneurs, tourists, and everyone operating in the international digital space,” said Mikhail Tolpyshkin, CEO of Molniya LLC.
Molniya LLC was established in 2025 to support the development of the Molniya ecosystem of business and social services and to build the new super-app. The company will oversee all aspects of the platform’s development, from social features to business functions and content management.
