Russia, Azerbaijan may sign deal on Rasht-Astara railway section construction till late 2023

Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov has said that Russia and Azerbaijan plan to sign an agreement on the construction of the Rasht-Astara railway section till late 2023.

Belousov made these remarks at the plenary meeting of the Transport Week forum, APA reports.

“We must sign a similar agreement with Azerbaijan by the end of this year. This route will be fully launched from 2028 with additional cargo traffic for the beginning - 15 million tons of cargo per year. These are still quite ambitious plans, but they are being implemented,” he added.
