Malaysian official highlights need for implementing COP29 agreements
The Global Baku Forum has been praised as a valuable platform for discussing current global processes and exchanging views on how to move forward and in which direction by the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Maimunah Mohd Sharif.
She shared her view of the event while speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the 12th Global Baku Forum that is currently being hosted in the capital, Caliber.Az reports citing local media.
Sharif, who is simultaneously the Executive Director of the UN-Habitat Program spoke of the need for an improved system of international governance to effectively implement the Paris Climate Agreement and those reached at the COP29, which was held in Baku last November. "Financial capabilities and potential also remain relevant issues," she emphasized.
The Global Baku Forum is a platform for open dialogue that aims to foster dialogue on pressing international issues. It is being held under the patronage of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and organized by the Nizami Ganjavi International Centre.
This year's edition is being hosted under the theme “Rethinking World Order: Turning Challenges into Opportunities” and has attracted over 400 distinguished participants, including former heads of states and governments, Nobel Peace Prize laureates, as well as key representatives from international organizations and civil society.
