Russia, Azerbaijan strengthen interparliamentary ties through new roadmap
Interparliamentary cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan continues to flourish, underscored by the recent developments highlighted at the 21st session of the Interparliamentary Commission.
First Vice-Speaker of the Federation Council of Russia Andrey Yatskin emphasized the steadfast growth of relations between the two nations, grounded in mutual respect and shared interests. This relationship's significance is formalized by the Declaration on Allied Interaction signed in Moscow on February 22, 2022, Caliber.Az reports citing local media.
"We interact across multiple platforms including the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, the Interparliamentary Union, and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation," noted Senator Yatskin, illustrating the breadth of their collaboration.
Highlighting another milestone, Yatskin referenced the 12th Azerbaijani- Russian Interregional Forum held in Stavropol Krai earlier this year, which involved over 70 regions of Russia in bilateral cooperation with Azerbaijan.
In response, First Deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Ali Huseynli, affirmed the historical foundation of friendship and good-neighborliness between the peoples of Russia and Azerbaijan. "Today, on this solid historical basis, we are building and expanding our interstate relations," he remarked.
A pivotal moment during the session was marked by the signing of the 2024-2026 work plan ("road map") of the Interparliamentary Commission on cooperation between the Federal Assembly of Russia and the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, underscoring a commitment to further strengthen and deepen bilateral ties.
