Russia commemorates January 20 tragedy victims PHOTO

Russia has commemorated the January 20 tragedy victims.

An event dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the January 20 tragedy was held at the Azerbaijani embassy in Moscow, according to Azertac.

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu, the embassy’s staff, laid flowers at the banner at the entrance to the embassy dedicated to the victims of the January 20 tragedy.

Then Bulbuloglu laid roses at the bas-relief of Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev.

Bulbuloglu reminded that the national leader came to the building of the permanent mission of Azerbaijan in Moscow on January 21, 1990. He held a press conference at which he sharply condemned the committed atrocities, calling them terror against the civilian population. He demanded the tragedy to be assessed at a political level and the instigators to be punished, thereby he demonstrated solidarity with Azerbaijani people.

Bulbuloglu made an official speech. He described those bloody days, and also shared his memories. He noted that the January 20 tragedy was assessed at the state level thanks to Heydar Aliyev’s initiative and perseverance.
