Russia foils terror plot targeting railway infrastructure
In Russia’s Sverdlovsk Region, officers of the Federal Security Service (FSB) have detained three Russian citizens suspected of preparing a terrorist attack on a railway facility, FSB’s Centre for Public Relations told Russian media.
According to the agency, the detainees — men born in 1979, 1981 and 1984 — were planning to set fire to a piece of transport infrastructure. The investigation found that they had received the assignment from representatives of Ukrainian intelligence services.
The FSB added that the suspects themselves had contacted an officer of a Ukrainian special service through the Telegram messenger. During their communication, they were given instructions on how to prepare the act of sabotage on the railway.
