Russia has no plans to revise state border lines in Baltic Sea
Russia has no plans to revise the width of its territorial waters, economic zone, shelf and state border line in the Baltic Sea.
"There were and are no intentions to revise the width of the territorial waters, economic zone, continental shelf off the mainland coast and the line of Russia's state border in the Baltic Sea," the unnamed source assured, Interfax reports, citing a military-diplomatic source.
On May 21, the Russian Defence Ministry said that the straight border lines in the Gulf of Finland have no continuation and are not closed to the territory of the country. The ministry announced an update of the coordinates of the state border in the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland, as well as in the area of Baltiysk and Zelenogradsk.
Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen said that the country's authorities were "working out the details" following the Russian ministry's announcement. Kimmo Kiljunen, head of the Finnish Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, was surprised that Russia had not informed the country about plans to change its maritime borders in the Baltic.
