Uzbekistan brings home citizens facing difficult situations in Russia
The authorities of Uzbekistan have organised the return of 100 of their citizens from Saint Petersburg, who found themselves in difficult circumstances.
The operation is taking place from July 30 to August 30, with the support of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan and the Agency for External Labour Migration, Caliber.Az reports, citing Uzbek media.
Citizens have been provided with return certificates and plane tickets. The flight to Tashkent is scheduled for August 18. Special attention is being given to women and children held at the Temporary Accommodation Centre for Foreign Citizens, as well as to those in severe financial hardship.
Additional assistance was provided to 33 citizens, including those temporarily housed in specialised facilities. The “Return Home” program is aimed at supporting Uzbeks who were unable to return on their own.
The authorities of the republic emphasise that such initiatives will continue in the future.
