Russia posts lowest unemployment rate in G20
Russia recorded the lowest unemployment rate among G20 countries at 2.2%, down 0.1 percentage points from the end of 2024, according to data.
Mexico ranked second, with its unemployment rate holding steady at 2.4%, followed by Japan in third place at 2.6%, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
At the other end of the scale, South Africa reported the highest unemployment rate among G20 members, at 31.9%. Unemployment levels were also significantly above the group’s average in several advanced and emerging economies, including France and Türkiye, both at 7.7%, and Canada at 6.8%.
The Group of Twenty (G20) comprises the world’s largest economies and serves as a key forum for coordinating macroeconomic policy, as well as addressing global challenges related to employment, financial stability, and sustainable development.
