Russia’s Taganrog declares state of emergency after missile attack
A state of emergency has been introduced in the Russian city of Taganrog in the Rostov region following a missile attack, with a boiler plant reportedly damaged, Mayor Svetlana Kambulova has announced.
Following an extraordinary meeting of the city’s Emergency Situations Commission, she said, in a post on Telegram, that there were casualties among civilians, Caliber.Az reports.
“Two residents sustained injuries of varying severity. They have been hospitalized and are under constant medical supervision. Doctors are providing all necessary care. We will, on our part, provide all necessary assistance and support to the victims,” she noted.
According to her, the boiler plant of the municipal enterprise City Economy at 40 Tsiolkovsky Street sustained serious damage.
“The plant’s operation has been temporarily suspended. As a result, hot water supply has been cut off in several residential buildings. Services are already working to restore the equipment as quickly as possible. A decision has been made to introduce a local state of emergency. The commission has begun inspecting the area, buildings, and assessing the damage,” Kambulova added.
Earlier, it was reported that residents of Taganrog in Russia’s Rostov region heard explosions and saw smoke in the city on the morning of May 27.
