Russia summons German ambassador over NATO headquarters in Rostock
The German Ambassador to Moscow, Alexander Lambsdorff, has been summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry, where officials expressed strong opposition to the establishment of NATO's maritime command regional headquarters in Rostock, East Germany.
In a statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry conveyed its discontent, asserting that this move, initiated by Berlin, represents a continuation of efforts to revise the outcomes of World War II and militarize Germany, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
The ministry highlighted that this action constitutes a blatant violation of the Treaty on the Final Settlement with respect to Germany, known as the “Two Plus Four Conference” of September 12, 1990, specifically referencing provisions that prohibit the deployment of foreign troops in the territory of the former East Germany.
Russia has demanded immediate and comprehensive explanations from Berlin regarding this decision.
