Russia, US hold closed contacts over Ukraine conflict
Russia and the United States have been engaging in closed contacts at the level of political analysts to discuss issues related to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
These interactions have taken place within the framework of the so-called "second track" diplomacy, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov revealed, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
"I will tell you in confidence - we had unclassified contacts with the Americans through political analysts, but political analysts who know each other and understand the policies of their governments," Lavrov stated.
During these discussions, Russian experts reportedly inquired whether Washington would support including a provision in any future peace agreements that would require Kyiv to revoke laws banning the use of the Russian language in all spheres of life.
Lavrov said that the American political analysts responded by stating that the US does not interfere in Ukraine's internal affairs.
