Russian leader: North-South route to accelerate cargo transportation

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that the cargo transportation along the North-South route will reduce transportation time to the Persian Gulf countries by 10 days.

President Putin made these remarks at a meeting with the heads of world news agencies organised by TASS.

The Russian leader noted that the North-South corridor can turn into a very good and sought-after international corridor.

“Cargo from here directly, from the port of St. Petersburg, will be transported through the entire European part to Azerbaijan, then to Iran and then to the shore of the Persian Gulf. This is almost 10 days faster than through the Suez Canal,” he added.
