Armenian lawmaker moves from pre-trial detention to home confinement
Artur Sargsyan, an MP from the "Armenia" faction of the National Assembly, has been released from pre-trial detention and placed under house arrest.
Sargsyan’s lawyer, Aram Vardevanyan, announced the court’s decision, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
The judicial authorities modified his preventive measure, substituting house arrest and a bail requirement exceeding $50,000 for his prior detention.
The Criminal Court of Appeal accepted a special complaint filed by the defense challenging the extension of his initial detention.
Sargsyan was originally arrested in July 2025 on charges of preparing terrorist acts allegedly intended to overthrow the constitutional order. The case has drawn significant public attention due to its political implications.
