Russian president orders non-strategic nuclear forces on permanent alert
Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered that Russia’s non-strategic nuclear forces remain on permanent alert and that exercises to practice their use continue regularly.
Putin made the announcement during a speech at the final board meeting of Russian Defence Ministry , Caliber.Az reports citing Kremlin’s official website.
“It is important to keep non-strategic nuclear forces on constant alert, and to continue conducting exercises to practice their use,” Putin stated, emphasizing the significance of maintaining readiness.
The president also highlighted the continued growth of Russia’s military forces, noting that over a thousand individuals are signing contracts with the Russian army every day. He further acknowledged the strong societal support the military is receiving during this time.
In addition, Putin stated that the Russian government is focusing heavily on enhancing the combat readiness of the army. He revealed that the regular number of Russian military personnel has been increased to 1.5 million servicemen, underscoring the country’s commitment to bolstering its defence capabilities.
