Russians rank first among migrants moved to Georgia in 2022
Russians ranked first in the number of people coming to Georgia in 2022 and accounted for more than a third of their total number, according to the National Statistics Service.

In 2022, 62,304 people from Russia came to Georgia. They accounted for more than a third of the total number of migrants (179,778). In second place were Georgians who returned to the country: 54,405 people. In third place were Ukrainians, three times fewer than Russians: 20,716 people.
In 2022, almost twice as many Georgians left Georgia than entered it: 100,802 people left the country. As compared to 2021, the number of those who left increased by 25.3 per cent, and 5,935 of them were Russian citizens.
The population of Georgia as of January 1, 2023 was nearly 3.74 million people - 1.3 per cent more than at the beginning of 2022. The statistical service noted a negative natural increase and a positive migration balance.
