Senior Armenian officer charged with treason
Another Armenian military officer, a major (with initials A.N.) in a military unit, has been charged with espionage for foreign intelligence services.
“A.N., together with military officer A.T., was captured by the Azerbaijani military in July 2021 at a site near Garagol Lake. A.N. was driving a Ural truck to a combat position but found himself on Azerbaijani-controlled territory due to bad weather,” said the press service of the Armenian Prosecutor-General's Office, Caliber.Az reports quoting Armenian media.
“A.N. was a prisoner of war until September, and on September 7, 2021, he concluded a cooperation agreement in Baku with representatives of foreign secret services. On the same day, he was returned home from captivity. Later A.N. was assigned to the post of chief of exploitation in one of the military units and handed over secret data, receiving more than $20,200 for it. He has been charged with treason under Armenia's Criminal Code. The case has been sent to court," the statement said.
