Crime in Georgia rises 8%, theft and drug offenses most common
Crime in Georgia increased by 8.32% in 2025 compared to 2024, with a total of 54,134 offences recorded, according to the Interior Ministry.
The overall case clearance rate reached 70.01%, the highest in recent years, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Law enforcement was particularly effective in solving cases involving murder, hostage-taking, threats, coercion, affiliation with criminal networks, and drug-related offences.
The ministry noted a significant rise in financial crimes and drug offences in 2025. Meanwhile, no cases were reported involving obstruction of political, religious, or civic activity, racial discrimination, restrictions on the rights of persons with disabilities, banditry, terrorism, or participation in international terrorism—an uninterrupted trend for the past two years.

Assault: 3,017 cases
Additional statistics show that in 2025, there were 55 cases of murder or aggravated murder, 126 cases of rape, 1,119 cases of incitement to suicide, 5 cases of human trafficking, 71 cases of unlawful detention, 13 cases of inhumane treatment, and 150 cases of violations of privacy rights.
