Shakira teases official song for 2026 FIFA World Cup

Shakira and Burna Boy are set to release the official song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking Shakira’s return to World Cup music more than a decade after the global success of “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).”

The new track, titled Dai Dai, was announced through a collaborative Instagram post involving Shakira, Global Citizen, and FIFA World Cup organisers. A one-minute teaser clip featuring the song and scenes filmed at Maracana Stadium was also released ahead of the full music video premiere scheduled for May 14, Billboard reports.

In the preview, Shakira sings: “You from the day you were born/ here in the space you belong … what broke you once, made you strong,” before aerial footage of the stadium appears alongside the phrase “We are ready.”

The song blends reggaeton and Afrobeats influences, combining the musical styles of both artists. Burna Boy also co-wrote the track.

“Waka Waka” achieved major international chart success, reaching high positions across Billboard’s Latin music rankings and spending 42 weeks at No. 1 on the Latin Digital Song Sales chart.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19 across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
