22 January 2024 09:41
An oil tanker from Russia has been successfully towed in the Bosporus Strait in Türkiye, causing the suspension of shipping for several hours.
The movement of ships has been resumed, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
According to the Russian state agency, the Peria vessel was towed to the Küçükçekmece berth in Istanbul. Shipping was resumed from 20:00 from south to north after about 14 hours of interruption.
The tanker Peria, which was on its way from Russia to Izmir, Türkiye, suffered an anchor failure near the village of Keçilik. The tanker's anchor detached due to bad weather. Two tugboats were sent to the vessel. The tanker was travelling under the flag of Liberia.
