SOHR: Two Assad army soldiers wounded in Israeli strike on Syria
On the night of 29 December, the IDF struck targets in the areas of Al-Zahir and Babila (outside Damascus), where Assad's air defence batteries are located. At the same time, the attempt to repel the air attack was carried out from air defence positions in the area of Mount Qasioun.
This is reported by the London-based monitoring group The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).
It is also reported about two wounded soldiers of Assad's army as a result of the Israeli bombardment of the Tal al-Sahan site in the neighbourhood of Suaida, in southern Syria. Earlier, Syria's state media claimed there were no casualties.
On the night of 29 December, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported a second Israeli air force attack on targets near Damascus. Several missiles were allegedly intercepted by air defence forces. The second attack was carried out from Lebanese airspace.
On the evening of 28 December, Syrian media reported explosions heard in Damascus. The London-based monitoring group The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that the strike was carried out at Damascus International Airport to prevent a cargo plane carrying weapons from Iran from landing. Other opposition media outlets claimed that the international airport was not attacked and that the strike targeted Iranian facilities in Tal al-Sakhan, in southern Syria.
