Son of former Iranian intelligence chief faces charges of supporting Israel
Hassan Younesi, the son of former Iranian Intelligence Minister Ali Younesi, has revealed that he is facing charges of “supporting Israel” in an ongoing legal case.
According to reports from the Telegram channel "Free Iran," Younesi, who is also a lawyer and political activist, disclosed the development on the social media platform X.
He stated that, following an order from the Tehran prosecutor’s office, he has been placed under judicial supervision and is banned from using social media for a period of three months.
In addition to previously known accusations of spreading false information and engaging in propaganda against the Islamic Republic, Younesi said a new charge of “supporting Israel” has now been brought against him.
His father, Ali Younesi, served as Iran’s Minister of Intelligence (ETTELAAT) from 2000 to 2005 during the presidency of reformist leader Mohammad Khatami, who was in office from 1997 to 2005. Ali Younesi later became an advisor to President Hassan Rouhani, who held office from 2013 to 2021.
Ali Younesi has in the past issued stark warnings about the infiltration of the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad in Iran, suggesting that its presence is so extensive that all officials loyal to the current regime should fear for their safety.
