Spanish FM says NATO not planning to offer Ukraine membership
NATO currently has no plans to invite Ukraine to join the alliance, this issue has not yet been raised.
This was stated by Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albarez during an event organized by the newspaper La Vanguardia.
According to the diplomat, for its part, Ukraine also does not request this. At the same time, he noted that the North Atlantic Alliance is a defensive organisation.
“The food security crisis is already here, it has already begun to be felt in many countries. The food security crisis will last longer than the war,” Albarez said, adding that the issue could be discussed at the UN General Assembly in September 2022.
He also suggested that the conflict in Ukraine could drag on for a long time. Amid this, Madrid is trying to offer technical ideas for the export of blocked Ukrainian grain.
