The capital of Azerbaijan is set to host one of the most prestigious gatherings in the global sports industry, the SportAccord World Sport and Business Summit, in 2026.

The event is expected to draw between 2,800 and 3,000 participants, including leading sports executives, international federation representatives, and influential stakeholders from across the world, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

The announcement was made by SportAccord President Uğur Erdener, who spoke to journalists about the upcoming summit and praised Azerbaijan’s reputation as a capable and experienced host of large-scale international events.

“The summit will bring together prominent sports figures from around the world. Representatives of various federations will also attend,” said Erdener. “Baku is a very beautiful city. International sports tournaments have been held here before, and I am confident that the next international event in Azerbaijan will also be organised at the highest level.”

Earlier, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan, Baku City Circuit, and SportAccord have signed an official agreement.

The signing ceremony was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) Chingiz Huseynzada, NOC Secretary General Azer Aliyev, SportAccord President Uğur Erdener, and representatives of various federations.

Under the agreement, Baku will host the SportAccord World Sport and Business Summit from May 24–28, 2026.

The event also formally confirmed Baku’s selection as the host city for the 2026 summit.

SportAccord is a global sports event organisation based in the Olympic Capital, Lausanne, Switzerland, and governed by stakeholders representing the Olympic and non-Olympic International Federations.

It brings together International Federations and organisations involved in the business of sport with the aim to serve, promote and protect the common interests of its stakeholders, help them achieve their global objectives, and facilitate knowledge-sharing.

SportAccord’s flagship event is the annual SportAccord World Sport & Business Summit, which enables global business leaders and host cities to connect with all the International Federations and their stakeholders in one location.
