St. Petersburg court declared Russian LGBT network extremist organisation
The St. Petersburg City Court has designated the “Russian LGBT Network” as an extremist organisation, in a case behind closed doors.
The court has upheld the claims of the administrative plaintiff, Caliber.Az reports, citing the court's press service.
“The public movement has been recognised as an extremist association, and its activities are banned on the territory of Russia,” the statement noted.
In early February, the St. Petersburg City Court received lawsuits from the Russian Ministry of Justice seeking to designate two LGBT organisations as extremist and ban their activities: the interregional public movement “Russian LGBT Network” and the St. Petersburg LGBT initiative group “Vyhod” (Coming Out).
Both organisations have been designated as foreign agents in Russia.
The “Vyhod” group was declared an extremist organisation and banned in Russia in early March.
