Syrian troops foil rebel offensive in northern Hama, kill dozens
The Syrian Armed Forces units operating in the north of Hama province prevented rebels from breaking through and killed dozens of militants, holding back their offensive, the Syrian Armed Forces General Command said in a statement.
“The units of our armed forces operating in the northern part of Hama province last night reinforced the defensive line with firepower and equipment, confronted the terrorist organisations and prevented them from achieving a breakthrough,” Caliber.Az reports, citing the Command’s statement published Syrian Defence Ministry's social media page.
As reported, the Syrian Armed Forces also managed to take control of a number of areas, the most important of which are Qalaat al-Madiq and Maardas, where they eliminated dozens of rebels and the rest fled.
On November 27, clashes erupted between Assad regime forces and anti-regime armed groups in the western countryside of Aleppo province in northern Syria.
Between November 27-28, the anti-regime armed groups made rapid progress from the western countryside of Aleppo towards the city centre, capturing much of it by November 30.
In the evening, the armed groups took control of Khan Shaykhun, establishing control over all of Idlib.
