Tashkent to host major CIS anti-terrorist drills

Tashkent will be the venue for significant anti-terrorist exercises conducted by the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) on September 4-5. 

The exercises, organized by Uzbekistan’s State Security Service and coordinated by the CIS Anti-Terrorist Centre, aim to enhance collaborative efforts among member states in detecting and thwarting terrorist threats to critical infrastructure and public gatherings, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

In conjunction with the drills, Tashkent will also host a scientific and practical conference of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, along with a CIS conference focused on countering terrorism and extremism. Delegates from various member states, as well as representatives from international organizations such as the UN, Interpol, and the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism, are expected to participate.

The conferences will facilitate the exchange of best practices and strategies, promoting international cooperation and developing a unified approach to emerging security threats.
