Iran weighs joining upcoming US talks, stresses unwavering nuclear stance
Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, announced that Tehran is currently evaluating whether to participate in the next round of indirect negotiations with the United States.
Speaking to reporters, Araghchi emphasized that Iran has already addressed what he described as the “illogical demands” of the US during previous discussions, Caliber.Az reports citing Iranian media.
Araghchi reaffirmed Iran's unwavering stance on its nuclear program, stating, "Enrichment will continue with or without an agreement." However, he also expressed Iran’s openness to transparency regarding its peaceful nuclear activities, should the other parties show willingness.
When asked about the fifth round of indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the US, Araghchi responded, “We are assessing whether or not to participate in the next round of negotiations.” He explained that Iran is carefully evaluating the potential for productive talks at the proposed time and location.
The foreign minister reiterated Iran’s position on rejecting any excessive demands at the negotiating table, stressing that while Iran remains committed to diplomacy, it will not concede its rights. "Requests that aim to deprive Iran of its rights will be out of the question," he added.
Since April 12, Iran and the US have held four rounds of indirect talks, facilitated by Oman, focused on reaching a deal regarding Iran’s nuclear program and the removal of sanctions imposed on Tehran.
