Armenian PM’s deputy unveils ex-president Kocharyan’s gold mining business in Tanzania “Did he become a billionaire with his salary?”
Taron Chakhoyan, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister of Armenia, has exposed the former (second) Armenian President Robert Kocharyan’s business activities in Tanzania.
"Robert Kocharyan, who speaks about corruption, should explain how he became the owner of a gold mine in Tanzania," Chakhoyan wrote on social media, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“They became shareholders of a company (MMJ Gold Limited) that is engaged in the extraction of gold, diamonds, and other precious stones and metals in Tanzania. This also explains Kocharyan’s and his son’s visit to Tanzania after 2008, where they saddled a dead lion. Was it the president's salary to saddle a dead lion with 50,000 dollars in Africa, or did he become a billionaire with his salary?
The Prosecutor’s Office is demanding the confiscation from Sedrak Kocharyan of the funds used to acquire a stake in MMJ Gold Limited, approximately 2 billion drams,” Pashinyan’s representative wrote.
