22 October 2025 10:34

Georgia and Türkiye have reaffirmed their growing partnership in the healthcare sector during talks in Tbilisi between Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Turkish Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu.

According to the Georgian government’s press service, cited by Georgian media, the discussions focused on strengthening the two countries’ strategic partnership and expanding cooperation in healthcare.

Memişoğlu arrived in Georgia for a two-day official visit, during which a memorandum of understanding on enhanced collaboration in the field of health is set to be signed.

“I had a constructive meeting with Turkish Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu. I thanked him for Türkiye’s continued support to Georgia’s healthcare sector and reiterated our readiness to further deepen our partnership for the benefit of our citizens,” Kobakhidze wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Officials highlighted that the close cooperation between Tbilisi and Ankara has already produced tangible results, including improved access to quality medical services and more affordable medicines for citizens.

Kobakhidze also underscored the successful collaboration with Turkish medical institutions in developing pediatric oncology services in Georgia. He expressed gratitude to Memişoğlu for Türkiye’s ongoing assistance and said he hoped the forthcoming memorandum would further strengthen bilateral cooperation in healthcare.

During the visit, the Turkish delegation is expected to hold additional meetings with Georgian lawmakers and other senior officials.
