Teenager detained in Russia over alleged terror links, planned attacks video
Investigators in Russia’s Arkhangelsk Region and the Nenets Autonomous District have opened a criminal case against a 15-year-old boy from the city of Onega, accusing him of involvement in a terrorist organisation and of preparing acts of sabotage.
According to the post shared on Telegram by the Russia’s Investigative Committee, the teenager is charged under Article 205.5, Part 2 of the Criminal Code for participating in the activities of a terrorist group, as well as under Article 30, Part 1 in conjunction with Article 281, Part 2, point “a,” for preparing sabotage carried out by a group of individuals by prior agreement.
Investigators say that since late 2025, the minor had been involved in the activities of an international organisation that is officially designated as a terrorist and banned in Russia. Acting on instructions from a handler and in exchange for money, he allegedly sought to recruit people to set fire to transport infrastructure facilities in the Onega district.
His actions were halted by officers of the regional branch of Russia’s Federal Security Service.
Law enforcement officials carried out a search at the teenager’s home, seizing communication devices and other items relevant to the investigation. He was detained, and a court approved his placement in pre-trial custody.
Authorities said investigative work is ongoing to clarify all circumstances of the case. Witnesses are being questioned, and forensic examinations have been ordered.
The criminal proceedings were launched based on materials gathered during operational activities by the Federal Security Service in the Arkhangelsk Region.
