Trump signs final resolution at inaugural Board of Peace meeting
US President Donald Trump has signed the final resolution following the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace, endorsing a document that sets out guiding principles for the body’s future work.
The resolution, adopted unanimously, establishes standards of financial integrity and transparency that will underpin the Board’s activities. Trump, serving as Chair of the session, signed the document in the presence of a quorum of Board members, Caliber.Az reports citing, the White House.
Speaking at the conclusion of the meeting, the President described the occasion as potentially historic.
“This has been, I think, maybe one of — if not the most important — days of our careers. We’ve had some pretty good careers up here, but this is something very special. We’re going to straighten out Gaza. We’re going to make Gaza very successful and safe,” Trump said.
He added that the Board could also expand its focus beyond the Middle East. “We are also going to maybe take it a step further where we see hotspots around the world. We could probably do that very easily. This is a tremendous group of powerful and brilliant people,” he noted.
Trump also underscored the need to revitalise the United Nations, stressing that while the organisation has significant potential, it requires renewed support.
“We will take care of a lot of things and work again with the United Nations and bring it back to health. It needs help. It has tremendous potential, but it needs help. I think we can start by doing that pretty soon,” the President said.
