Turkish FM Fidan arrives in Doha for talks on Gulf security
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has arrived in Qatar for a high-level visit aimed at deepening strategic cooperation and discussing regional security developments across the Gulf.
Upon arrival in Doha, Fidan was received by senior Qatari officials, with his programme including talks with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
The visit is expected to focus on strengthening Türkiye–Qatar strategic ties, including preparations for an upcoming meeting of the High Strategic Committee in Türkiye, as well as coordination on political, economic and security issues.
Regional security will feature prominently in the discussions, particularly maritime stability in the Strait of Hormuz, which both sides are expected to underline as critical for global energy flows and broader economic stability.
Talks are also set to address wider Gulf security dynamics, with emphasis on defence cooperation and the importance of resolving regional disputes to support long-term stability and integration.
In addition, the situation in Gaza and the West Bank is expected to be discussed, with a focus on maintaining international attention on the humanitarian situation and coordinating diplomatic efforts. Lebanon’s sovereignty and its role in regional stability are also likely to be raised.
