Türkiye appoints new head of armed forces general staff

Decisions of the Supreme Military Council convened under the chairmanship of President Erdogan have been announced in Türkiye.

İn this vein, Gen Metin Gürak, commander of the 2nd Army, was appointed Chief of the General Staff, TRT Haber reports.

2nd Chief of General Staff Gen Selcuk Bayraktaroglu was appointed as the commander of the Army, while Gen Ziya Cemal Kadioglu was appointed as the commander of the Air Force.

By the decision of the Supreme Military Council, 32 generals and admirals were promoted to the ranks and 63 colonels were promoted to generals and admirals as of August 30, 2023.
