Türkiye arrests 90 people due to terrorist attack in Istanbul
The total number of detainees in connection with the terrorist attack near Türkiye’s Istanbul Justice Palace has risen to 90.
The police conducted raids on the flats of the suspects, TASS reports citing A-Haber TV channel.
Warrants for new arrests were issued by the Istanbul Prosecutor General's Office in connection with the continuation of the investigation into the terrorist attack and the identification of its perpetrators. Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on February 6 that 40 suspects were detained during raids at 25 flats. The minister also noted that the operations will continue.
The attack occurred on February 6 afternoon. According to the Interior Ministry’s statement, an attempt to carry out a terrorist attack at the entrance to the building of the Istanbul Justice Palace in the Caglayan district was made by two members of the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party/ Front terrorist organisation. Six people, including three police officers, were injured. One of them died. Local media reported that on the day of the attack, a case was heard in the courthouse in which the sister of one of the attackers was accused.
