Türkiye, Egypt, Qatar talk over next phase of Gaza ceasefire
Türkiye’s intelligence chief met with his Egyptian counterpart and Qatar’s foreign minister in Cairo on November 25 to discuss moving to the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire and enhancing joint efforts in coordination with the United States, a Turkish source said.
The officials also agreed to continue strengthening cooperation with the Civil Military Coordination Centre (CMCC) to remove obstacles, ensure the ceasefire’s continuity and prevent further violations, the source added, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
Discussions included ways to counter Israeli breaches of the accord.
The Gaza ceasefire, brokered in October 2025 after nearly two years of fighting between Hamas and Israel, marked a fragile step toward stabilisation in the region. Its first phase included a cessation of hostilities, humanitarian corridors for aid, and the partial withdrawal of Israeli forces.
The agreement also envisioned longer-term measures, including reconstruction of Gaza’s infrastructure, civilian governance reforms, and a potential international stabilisation presence.
To monitor and support implementation, the Civil Military Coordination Center (CMCC) was established under U.S. oversight. It coordinates aid delivery, monitors compliance, and links international partners, regional actors, and local authorities — a critical mechanism to prevent violations and ensure the ceasefire holds.
Türkiye, Egypt, and Qatar have emerged as key mediators, with Egypt maintaining close ties to Hamas and Qatar facilitating diplomacy and humanitarian aid. Türkiye’s involvement reflects its interest in Gaza’s reconstruction and political transition.
Despite the truce, violations and Israeli strikes have continued, highlighting the fragility of peace and the challenges ahead, including governance disputes and the vast humanitarian needs in Gaza.
