Türkiye fighting wildfires for third day
For three days, Turkish provinces including Izmir, Aydın, Bolu, Manisa, Karabük, and Uşak have been battling wildfires, local media outlets say.
Around 12.5 million hectares of forest are at risk of being engulfed by the flames, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerbaijani media.
Efforts to combat the fires in Aydın involve seven planes, 15 helicopters, and around 370 personnel. In Izmir, three planes and 15 helicopters are engaged, while in Manisa, seven helicopters, and in Bolu, 12 helicopters are deployed, along with numerous fire trucks and approximately 1,500 personnel.
The fires are believed to have been caused by human activity. Seven individuals have been detained in connection with the fires, two of whom have been arrested. So far, 3,971 people have been evacuated from the affected areas.
It is worth noting that a Be-200ChS amphibious aircraft from the aviation unit of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Emergency Situations, dispatched in accordance with the directive of President Ilham Aliyev to assist the brotherly country in combating the severe forest fires, has already arrived in Türkiye.
