Türkiye finishes construction of wall on border with Iran to curb illegal activity PHOTO
Türkiye has completed the construction of a 182-kilometer wall along the border of Van province with Iran.
The wall was built to prevent illegal border crossings by refugees and the smuggling of goods into the country, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian Telegram channel.
The construction of the modular wall along the national border began in 2021, aimed at preventing the infiltration of terrorists and illegal migrants, as well as curbing smuggling activities.
The four-metre-high wall is equipped with specialized technology designed to detect and promptly intercept border violators. A one-metre-high barbed wire is placed along the top of the wall. A deep trench, four meters wide, runs along the length of the wall.
Turkish military personnel with service dogs patrol the area around the clock in armored vehicles. The anti-drone systems have been set up along the border, and teams of sappers are on standby. If any border violations are detected, an audio warning in both Turkish and Farsi is activated, stating: "This is the border of Türkiye. Move away!"
