According to information, MKE is preparing to submit its proposal to the Brazilian Ministry of Defence in a very short time and will participate in the tender with a 155mm YAVUZ 6×6 self-propelled howitzer.
The howitzer, mounted on a modified 6x6 truck chassis, is equipped with an armoured cab. It takes about a minute to prepare the system for firing and 2 minutes to change position.
This 155 mm/52 calibre towed howitzer has already proved successful in Turkish Armed Forces operations. The towed howitzer has a crew of five and is powered by a 480-hp diesel engine.
The available chassis will allow the towed howitzer to accelerate up to 90 km/h on the motorway and provide a range of up to 600 km.
The howitzer is designed for three different types of ammunition, including the 155mm NATO standard. The Mod 274 projectile has a range of up to 40 kilometres.
The YAVUZ howitzer can hit the same target with three different munitions simultaneously with different elevation angles and propulsion modules. With a range of 40 kilometres with MOD 274 ammunition, the Yavuz howitzer can fire 4-6 rounds per minute. The Yavuz howitzer, which can hold 18 rounds of ammunition, was designed to be fully armoured. Even in its maximum configuration, the self-propelled gun weighs no more than 20 tonnes.
