Türkiye ranks 18th in world’s population rankings
Türkiye at the beginning of this year ranked 18th in the world in terms of population.
This is stated in the bulletin of the Turkish Institute of Statistics (TÜİK), dedicated to World Population Day, according to Anadolu.
TÜİK noted that by the end of 2022, the world's population reached 8 billion people, and the population of Türkiye itself amounted to 85,279,553 people.
At the same time, the share of the young population in Türkiye amounted to 15.2 per cent, which is the highest figure among European countries.
The share of the older generation in Turkey was 9.9 per cent, which is much lower than in the EU countries.
According to the UN, in 2022, China remains the leader in the world population among countries – 1,425,887,337 people.
The second place is occupied by India – 1,417,173,173 people and the third is the USA – 338,289,857 people.
