The reopening of Aleppo consulate came after over a month since the collapse of the former Syrian regime and ex-president Bashar Assad.
Days after the fall of the Assad regime, Türkiye's foreign minister announced the reopening of the Turkish Embassy in Damascus.
“The embassy staff are on their way as a team. The embassy will start operations tomorrow,” Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said.
The Consulate General ceased its operations in July 2012 due to the outbreak of the civil war in Syria.
After the fall of the Assad regime on December 8, 2024, Burhan Köroğlu was appointed as the Charge d'Affaires in Damascus on December 12.
The Turkish Embassy in Damascus officially reopened on December 14.
