Türkiye’s position on Gaza remains unchanged, says Erdoğan
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Ankara’s position on resolving the crisis in the Gaza Strip remains unchanged and that Türkiye will not retreat from its stance.
During a meeting with students, Erdoğan stated that they would continue on their path with the same determination in the period ahead and that there would be no retreat from their position on Gaza, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
“If we retreat, we would not be able to answer either before God or before Gaza,” the president emphasised.
Speaking on December 12 in Ashgabat at the International Forum for Peace and Trust, Erdoğan said ensuring a ceasefire in Gaza and delivering humanitarian aid to the region are among Türkiye’s top priorities, describing the truce in the Palestinian enclave as fragile.
Türkiye has positioned itself as an active diplomatic and humanitarian actor in efforts to manage the Gaza conflict, pushing for a reinstated ceasefire and increased international engagement to halt violence and protect civilians.
Ankara consistently advocates for a political solution grounded in a sovereign Palestinian state alongside Israel, viewing the two‑state solution as essential for lasting peace and regional stability.
Beyond diplomacy, Türkiye has pledged substantial humanitarian aid and reconstruction support for Gaza, emphasising uninterrupted access for relief supplies and engagement with UN efforts to alleviate the humanitarian crisis.
Turkish representatives at the United Nations underscored the priority of protecting the ceasefire and ensuring sustained humanitarian assistance.
