Türkiye seeks aggravated life sentences for Bodrum mother-daughter killing

02 April 2026 15:06

Turkish prosecutors are seeking two life sentences for Lithuanian citizen Andriy Kushlevich, accused of murdering two Russian women in Bodrum in 2023.

Kushlevich was extradited from Germany to Türkiye in February, where the first hearing in the case took place, Caliber.Az reports, citing DHA news agency.

The Bodrum prosecutor’s office prepared an indictment demanding two aggravated life sentences for double premeditated murder, including that of a minor. The indictment was accepted by the Second High Criminal Court of Bodrum.

On February 6, Kushlevich, who had been detained in Germany following an Interpol notice, was brought to Istanbul and taken into custody at the airport.

At the hearing, Kushlevich pleaded not guilty and called for all the circumstances surrounding the incident to be clarified. He also stated that he had no intention of fleeing and raised an objection to the prosecution’s request to keep him in custody during the trial due to health issues, asking instead for house arrest or judicial supervision.

The court extended his detention and scheduled the next hearing for May 13.

The bodies of 42-year-old Irina Dvizova, a Bodrum resident and real estate professional, and her 15-year-old daughter were discovered on November 28, 2023.

According to A Haber, the family had been unable to contact them on November 23 and went to their home the same day, finding blood traces and reporting the situation to the police.

Investigators tracked a car leaving Dvizova’s home via security cameras and eventually discovered the two bodies along the roadside in the İçmeler area, wrapped in sheets and tied with ropes.

Dvizova’s body had three gunshot wounds, and her daughter’s body had two. Spent bullet casings were found at the crime scene. The suspect, Dvizova’s former husband, reportedly disposed of the firearm in a trash container and left Turkey for Lithuania after the killings. Reports indicate that Dvizova had ongoing disputes with her ex-husband over custody of their child.

In 2022, a restraining order was issued against him regarding the custody dispute, followed by additional restrictive measures.
