Türkiye sets unwanted World Cup record after failing to score from 62 shots
Türkiye's national football team has set an unwanted record at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after failing to score a single goal despite registering 62 shots across its first two group-stage matches.
Türkiye's tally ranks among the least efficient attacking performances in World Cup history in terms of converting chances into goals, Turkish media reports.
Türkiye opened its campaign with a 2-0 defeat to Australia before suffering a 1-0 loss to Paraguay in its second group-stage match. The consecutive defeats left the team without a point and mathematically eliminated from contention for a place in the knockout rounds before the final group fixture.
Despite creating numerous scoring opportunities, the Turkish side was unable to find the net in either match.
