Türkiye, Syria to launch operation if PKK/YPG refuse to disarm
Journalist of Türkiye’s Hürriyet newspaper Abdulkadir Selvi has said that Türkiye and Syria may launch a joint military operation in Syria against the PKK/YPG terrorists if they refuse to lay down their arms.
"Both the PKK/YPG and IS will be called on to disarm and join the Syrian Army. However, if the PKK/YPG responds negatively to this call, the Syrian Army and the Turkish Armed Forces will carry out an operation to remove the PKK/YPG from the territories they control," he said, Caliber.Az reports via the Turkish newspaper.
Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan urged Kurdish terrorist groups in Syria to immediately disband their forces.
“Türkiye and Syria have confirmed a unified stance on the fight against terrorism,” Fidan, who visited Syria for talks, said.
"There is absolutely no place for the PKK/YPG terrorists in Syria. These terrorist organisations occupy the lands of the Syrian people and steal its natural resources," he emphasised.
During his visit, Fidan said that he once again witnessed the determination of the Syrian people to fight against the PKK/YPG.
"These groups must disband as soon as possible. We are fully prepared to offer the strongest possible support to the Syrian people in their fight against terrorism," the minister stated.
